Purpose of this website

The purpose of this website is to provide information about the Kugatsu Karate-Dō for all its members and those interested in finding out more about our club. We are a thriving karate club based in the west end of Glasgow, teaching Shūkōkai Karate to over 100 students of all ages and abilities. Sensei Graham McCann (5th Dan), our Chief Instructor, opened the first of our two dojo on the 6th September 1995 in the Kelvindale area of the city.

Chief Instructor

Sensei McCann started his Shūkōkai Karate career in 1974 when he joined the world famous Kobe Osaka Karate-Dō Renmei, headed by Shihan Tommy Morris (the father of Scottish Karate).

Affiliations

The Kugatsu Karate-Dō is a founding and active member of Karate Kai Scotland (Sensei Graham McCann is the current Chairperson of Karate Kai Scotland). The Kugatsu Karate-Dō are also members of the Scottish Karate Governing Body (S.K.G.B.), Shuko-Kai International Scotland and the Sports Council for Glasgow.
